Re: How I got Hydroboost for under $80 (including lines)

when i did my hydro-boost, all i had to do was lengthen the rod using part of the original vacumm booster brake rod, and welded it on, and then it worked the exact same as your setup

the length will very, depending on the hydro-boost kit you use, but the pictures below will show you the amount i had to lengthen mine to make it work for me. there are also pictures of the mounting plate and what i had to do to make it work

Re: How I got Hydroboost for under $80 (including lines)

I know this thread actually started a long time ago but this is great information. I love finding Pick 'N Pull solutions that are top quality. I pulled my entire serpentine system out of an old pickup and saved hundreds of $$ vs new GM stuff. I just sent off my vacuum power booster back to mfg. for repair/replacement, it only had around 500 miles on it. My next built will have hydroboost!

The factory hoses won’t that r used in the photo. The inner wheel wells are in the way I cut a section out but it still won’t fit I’m just going to use a CPP AN hose kit it’s the same price

Re: How I got Hydroboost for under $80 (including lines)

I went the AN line route. The adapters at the steering box will raise the lines requiring trimming of the inner fender to clear.

Also, in my case, because I am running a late model serpentine belt system and my motor is moved forward a couple inches (4WD with 700R4) the distance from the box to the pump is very short (not enough room for an AN tee). The simplest way to handle that return line was to weld an AN bung to the side of the pump body.

This is a great thread. I'm getting ready to do this swap on a 67' C-20 and a 67' C6500.

I know its an old thread, but some good information in it. Also, you can mount the hydroboost "upside down", it will work fine. Here is a pic of the install I did on a '80 c10. This has been working fine for over a year now.
