Transmission gaskets
I am in the process of putting my 3 speed saginaw back together. There is a paper gasket that goes between the main housing and the tail shaft. Normally I would use some sort of sealer, but the factory manual says to hold it in place with some grease. Never heard of that before. What does the collective suggest? Thanks.

Re: Transmission gaskets
I use high tack sealant for assembly of most gaskets.

Re: Transmission gaskets
I used grease for many years always worked fine. Were not much of any of the rtv sealers when I got started working of stuff. Grease was just what you used.

Re: Transmission gaskets
I use copper coat spray . It will hold in place as well as enhance sealing . This is what autogear suggest .

Re: Transmission gaskets
All paper or cork gaskets get a light coat of Gasgacinch for me.
