15" Stock Appearance Steering Wheel Review

After installing my new 15" steering wheel, I thought I would post a review. Overall, I'm very satisfied, maybe a 8.5 out of 10 satisfied. Positives are: appearance is very good, feel of wheel is good, sturdiness of wheel is great (better than original), the view of gages is better and the smaller size is nice.
Negatives: The base of the wheel is slightly larger than the column mast (most people would not detect this), the gap between wheel and column is a little larger than original wheel, the new wheel is glossier than original which contrasts with the new horn button to a greater degree. The texture pattern is somewhat bolder or more pronounced than the original wheel.
I have power steering, I don't think I would put the smaller wheel on a non power steering truck/blazer. I was concerned that the auto trans shifter lever might look weird, but not an issue at all.

Looks good. I rotated the pictures. Care to share where you purchased it and cost? I would like to see about getting one for the '72 C30.

Thanks,
LockDoc

That’s a sharp steering wheel and a nice finishing touch.
That GMC horn button also!
Thanks for the review and photos.
Yes please, tell us where you purchased.

I purchased the 15" wheel from Cooper Restorations in Marion, IN. Cost was $264.00 which included a new horn button.

Hello Tim, Does this include the inner parts needed to get the horn to work?

No, from Cooper Restorations, it's just the new wheel and horn button. The inner working parts for the horn are available from many of the aftermarket truck part companies and I see these parts on the parts board here all the time.

Re: 15" Stock Appearance Steering Wheel Review

Thanks to both Tims. It is nice to know about the shine. And it is nice to know exactly what you get when you are buying these wheels. Most folks include the inner workings.

Re: 15" Stock Appearance Steering Wheel Review

Thanks for the review. I just bought the same wheel and was wondering about the wheel to column gap. My gap looks about the same.
