Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux

Looking good. I'm shopping for wheels for my Chevelle, and have looked at so many my head is starting to spin. I have a couple questions about your wheels. Is that the Gunmetal finish on the centers? Are the rear wheels the deep concave, and the fronts shallow? And finally, do you remember what the backspacing is on the rear 19x12s. I'm just trying to get an idea on lip sizes. Yours are right in that sweet spot of not too big, not to small. Can't wait to see it completed. Thanks

The color is actually "brushed smoke", 6" backspace. Back and front are deep concave.

Happy to help, be sure to order them from Sarah at Laid Back Recreations for best price.

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux

Started the process of getting the engine to fire up with the FiTech. It has not been fun so far. Bad distributor, bad coil and now it will fire up and run and then dies about a second later. Oh, the joy.

Another killer project Steve! I have checked this car out extensively at Laidbackrecreations. It's super nice. Love all the suspension, engine, wheels and tire upgrades!

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux

I saw the video on IG of the Camaro running. It sounds GREAT! If you don't mind me asking, what was it about the FITECH that was causing the problems? (other than the distributor and coil)
I've been kicking around trying there setup on one of my cars.

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux

After troubleshooting it with FiTech, and adding a fuel pressure gauge to verify the unit was getting adequate fuel pressure we discovered the fuel pump was cutting off. This happened because the unit cut off power to the pump, and also the display went dark when this happened.

So Kyle pulled everything and we sent it back to FiTech for them to check out. They got on it promptly and called me to say they tracked it down to an internal short. So they replaced the ECU and wiring harness.

Kyle and I crossed our fingers and damned if it didn't start right up. The new wiring harness came with heavier gauge wire for the pump than it originally had, which was a nice benefit. The FiTech unit can control the speed of the pump rather than running wide open all the time if you had a relay supplying power to the pump, which is something I considered doing because of the smaller gauge wire.

Now Kyle has completed the rear brake lines and is dabbing up a shroud for the electric fan.so we're getting closer to driving it.

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux

Glad FiTech resolved the problems. How much time did you guys spend diagnosing the issue?

Underneath and engine compartment is sweet.

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux

Thanks Doug.

We pissed away the better part of three days swapping thing out and guessing what the issue might be. When we finally got Cody on the line and actually tried things real time was when we really made progress.

Re: 69 Camaro Part Deaux

Check out this radiator shroud/hold-down Kyle fabbed up. It even has nutserts to hold the fan so if I ever have to remove it the shroud doesn't have to come out too. Can't say enough how crazy this man's skills are, and he's fanatical about the details.

Big milestone - Darth moved under his own power, so new pics are in order. Moving caused the suspension to settle more than expected....

Thanks Ryan,

Kyle's going to be spraying black on the fender soon, then the hood goes on, then it'll be on the road again. I'm more excited about that than Christmas
