Stepside bed differences

So I traded my fleetside for a stepside, after tearing it apart I need a new passenger side fender, the guy told me it came off a 80's chevy, but I don't want to go spend a bunch of money on the wrong fender, is there any visual differences in can check for before pulling the trigger and ordering? And any info on where to look would be helpful I've already checked out lmc and classic industries and of course ebay

Does it have a round or square fuel filler? 73-78 has round and 79-87 has square..

Re: Stepside bed differences

It will bolt up the only other difference is the 79-87 fenders don't have the rear light pocket in them

Re: Stepside bed differences

Don't forget if you go with the later style fender you'll need to find the square gas cap cover

Re: Stepside bed differences

Unless your doing a nut and bolt resto most people would never know the difference between the 2..I'd just go with the earlier fender and call it a day..then both fenders will be the same and your gas filler will fit your new fender
