Door flexing

Moved one of my crew cabs recently and noticed when I opened the driver's side door, the door skin flexed a good bit (probably close to an inch) in front of the door handle. I didn't have time to tear into it, but did check the passenger door and the doors of my other 3 square bodies and none of the others flex like that one does.

It's been a while since I have been in the doors of a square but I don't remember any brackets or braces to prevent this.

Will try to tear into it this weekend as I'm off. Is there a bracket in there I may be missing? I hate to take panels off a few doors to compare but will if I have to.

Thanks

Re: Door flexing

Mine did that, and the little rollers on the door hinges had froze up. Keep it up, and they'll fold in the metal on th front of it where they bolt up. I'd try that first. Little wd40

Re: Door flexing

My original door had this same issue. I remember seeing a "reinforcement" plate on the inside of the door skin. I had thought that plate might have a broken weld or something.

For other reasons I wound up using another set of door to finish my truck, but would start looking at the plate. the side glass was out of mine which made it easy to see it flex.

If there is some kind of weld that's broken, and rewelding is not an option...(like good paint on outside) I would look at something like JB Weld to reattach.

good luck.
