The price is low but that is almost certainly a parts truck only. Too bad, but I doubt there's a panel on it that's not full of cancer. Still, maybe some of the running gear is salveable.

Rat rod?WTF,gettin' tired of seeing that crap. That truck is a perfect candidate for a restoration. Why not? It's all there, just needs some skills applied.I only see surface rust in the picture. It's in Bakersfield afterall. Not exactly the wettest part of the world.

Edit:Clovis/Fresno...still awfully dry

Sunny weather are wimps when it comes to building stuff- up here that would be like finding a gold mine in our back yard! Up here trucks of that vintage mostly have the bottoms of the doors gone and big holes over the windshield and in the back of the cab at the beltline!

Re: here is a great deal 1946 chevy truck shortbed on ca kraigs

I can virtually guarantee the truck has rusted through cancer at the seam between the upper and lower cab...probably all along it. Over the windshield, at the point where the running boards meet the fenders, front and rear. The running board brackets will be Swiss cheese. Can't know what may be wrong with the frame, suspension parts, etc. The door bottoms and floors are almost certainly toast.

I guess I'm not saying its not potentially salvageable; I suppose anhything is. But some guys have the ability to unscrew the radiator caps, build a new truck under it and call it "restored". I think this is a re-build. If you've got unlimited fabrication chops, a lot of space and time, absolutely go for it.

Naturally,I'd want to see the actually truck to say for sure.I can't tell from the pictures.I see trucks around here survive pretty well.I'd just guess that out in nut tree country things might survive pretty well.(probably a lot of wishing, too)
