'58 Power steering kit

A lot of companies sell power steering kits where a later GM power steering box mounts to the outside of the frame and
the steering shaft goes through the inner fender. You also have to reverse the shocks. Sounds like routing the hoses might be the trickiest part.

There is a good article on the web written by Carl Ham about his experience installing this kit. Overall he liked it. He did mention a reduced turning radius.

I'm debating getting one of these kits or just sticking with the manual box in a '58. Don't really want to go the IFS route on this truck at this time. Not building anything for show, just a weekend driver on a low budget. The old manual steering box needs rebuild anyway, so now would be a perfect time to switch over to p.s.

If anybody else went with one of these power steering kits, can you give your experiences. Was it worth it? any regrets? any vendor (Brothers, American Classic, Classic Performance, etc) better or worse?, would you do it again? any other negatives that you found?

Appreciate all the info you can give.

Thanks,
Rich S.
