I think you need a plate for the front of the engine to mount to the Gmc frame. My Gmc had it with a 235. I might actually still have it. Not sure about the bell housing mounts. Could/should be the same?

Re: 235 in a gmc

This is a GMC frame that I am using on my 48 to have a 1/2 ton long wheelbase frame. I'm stretching the cab but want to keep the stock length short box on it.

I'm not sure on the center crossmember bellhousing bolt thing. We put a 56 235 in a 53 truck and I am sure we used the 56 bellhousing on it. It may be just using the right motor mounts but it isn't rocket science.

Bolt the bellhousing to the crossmember first and then fab up the piece for the front mount to sit on. Maybe 73Kay can find the one he has and get a couple of photos.

A thick steel plate between the crossmember and front engine mount works fine. If you don't have the dimensions, bolt the 235 in at the bellhousing and support the front of the engine under the oil pan. Is your 228 bad?
