Maybe that truck was going to be built at one of the plants they are shutting down, so it no longer exists.

Re: This is what happens when.

....it sort of looks like the guy (or girl) who designed the Aztec had nothing to do....so they gave the project to redesign the GM trucks, lol.

..remember the Aztec?....sort of looked like 5 or 6 different vehicles glued together in ways that didn't match...an abomination for sure, lol.

Ahhh, GM.....a few good days a few bad days.

Better than the other photo, but still ugly!
Whoever designed the side mirrors and their placement should be fired.

I completely agree. The PERFECT SPOT for them on a modern vehicle has always been in the corner of the door glass. They did this on the 1500 and they look terrible too (not to mention the silverados terrible 1500 front end). If you now bump ANYTHING with the mirror it's going to destroy the door, where in the past it would either break the mirror or just fold it in.

My wife hates when I tell this story, but on her new mustang she claims she was forced to the side of the road and clipped a mailbox with the mirror. Mirror just broke. I bought a brand new OEM ford mirror on ebay and replaced it, zero body damage. If you did that on one of these new trucks (I guarantee someone will bump it on job sites) it's going to dent the door skin in!!!

I'm also not an internet warrior that complains about new vehicles and never puts my money down on one, I bought a brand new 2015 and you will never see it replaced with one of these. The Sierra is a maybe... I still really hate the mirror placement...

Coley was right. Whoever is responsible for the face of these abominations must surely have had a hand in designing the Aztec. Right or wrong, I won't buy something that I can't bear to look at.

Re: This is what happens when.

Front end of these are very similar in design to the new Camaros.
Which I hate too.

Re: This is what happens when.

They are all starting to look like deceased Pontiacs to me...lol.

Which reminds when pontiac (supposedly?) resurrected the GTO....lol, another winner. When i saw it, I thought who are we kidding here...that is just a regular pontiac with a modified hood or something....it actually had to be pointed out to me in traffic.

I must say that GM has historically built some great trucks consistently through the years even of recent...and some great cars in years past history, but I would not buy any of their cars made since probably 1973 in all honesty.

Regardless, with respect to these new designs...more generic white, black and silver potatoes to not notice at every intersection....thank god for the Classic Vehicle hobby!

All Good

Re: This is what happens when.

The picture in the OP is horrid I will admit, but I have seen a couple of these new Chevy trucks at the local dealer that I would drive. I would prefer the GMC.

The F*rd, in my opinion, ain't gonna' win no beauty contest.

Agreed. If there is a similarity, on the Camaro it seems to work. On the truck, not so much. Part of that may be due to the truck's face being sooooo tall, multilayered, and mixing too many design elements that just don't blend together well.

Just my 2 cents.... it may grow on me a bit in time, but right now I find it repulsive. No better or no worse than a new Ford.

Our old trucks can do more?Sorry but your dreaming. My 07 1 ton dodge has a gcvwr of 23000 pounds. And it will pull that all day at 75 mph with the cruise on and the a/c blowing ice cold

New ones can pull upwards of 31k pounds. And has a bed payload of 7300 pounds.

Really dont think a stock c30 from the 60's or 70's can even come close.

New trucks are better at most any task except for the enjoyment we get in our 50 year old trucks.

There going to sell a ****load of new trucks whether its Chevy Ford Ram or Toyota. People want trucks for whatever reason God knows most will never be used as trucks it's a status thing now. Who has the biggest & baddest. Just like jeeps bet 80 to 90 % of them ever even see a dirt road much less a trail.

GM closing plants have nothing to do with the new trucks. They are getting away from cars that have a much less margin of profit than a truck or SUV have.

I guess they can sell a front end bra ( that will be a huge bra, lol ) and some ear muffs for the side mirrors and it would look a lot better.

Btw I believe that GM never made that truck. I think it's a 67-72 bed with a c30-c50 front end , but there is a bit out there.

Rtech Fabrication made that truck.
He was a member here.
He builds a lot of crew cab 67-72 trucks.

Re: This is what happens when.

I found that Legends e-mail. It shows a truck with that grille that started this thread. At the bottom it says:

"Preproduction models shown. Actual production model may vary. Available late summer 2019"

The title says:

"Exclusive First Look: The All New 2020 Silverado HD"

So, here is your first look at the new truck design that might not look like this. Start getting your ducks in a row to buy one now. You might just like what we come up with . Hey, we are Chevy Legends. We're going to buy them no matter what, right?

I'm pretty active on a site similar to this for vintage mustangs. You should have seen the pure hatered for the 2015's when they came out (the fish mouth Mustang). It was so one sided you would have thought Ford was going to sell 10 of 'em the first year.

Sales data for 12, 13,14 Mustangs (the car supposedly everyone thought was sexy) 82,995, 77,186, and 82, 635

The 2015, 16, 17 models (which are supposedly fish mouthed and not a mustang) 122,349, 105,932, 81,866.

Now, when the "new" 2005 came out the sales spiked to 160,975. It was a new model AND dead sexy.

Just proof that no matter what it looks like, if it performs well, people will flock to the "new models".

I don't think the sales at those times had anything to do with looks or performance , Those numbers line up with the current economy for the regular guy at that time and in 2005 everybody had extra $ . I wonder what the sales are for 2018 ?

Re: This is what happens when.

So get this, yesterday afternoon there was me and a couple guys left at work. One just bought a new WV Tiguan ( ) so we start talking vehicles. I tell them how GM totally effed up the new Silverado. Both of them are NOT car guys. So one of them brought up a bunch of google pics of them. They both said they liked it, one stating he really liked it? What?
