Decisions on quality vs quantity

Hey guys,

I'm looking for some advice from folks who have been in my position before. I got a few projects. A 76 c10 90% restored and a 69 c10 with no frame. I have a 78 K10 frame with a 454 4 speed just waiting for a body. Original plan was to modify the frame for the 69 and have that be my tow/stump puller while my cruiser would be the 76 c10.

Lately ive been tempted to swap frames with the squarebody and have a all in one truck and sell off the 69. I'm not opposed to fab work but I'm wondering if any of you guys consolidated some.of your projects to focus on really good truck and were you happy about it in the end? Thanks for the input.

You would need a body lift kit to make the 69 cab clear the gas tank hump of the newer frame. I believe wheel base is longer that that of the 69, so unless you are running a flatbed, there maybe some chopping that needs done.

Ya I've been researching what folks have done for the frame. Found some good ways to work it. I got a welder and knew that going in.

I have been in a somewhat similar position with my projects. 79 K10, 71 K10. 71 I had been gathering parts for the last 20 years to someday restore it and drive it. 79 was my daily driver till 2004 then stripped it down. 79 was going to get restored to show room and as well the 71. Well as time went on and money is tight things have changed. I continued to restore my 79 as if it were new with what I want to do to it. The 71 I decided to put it all together as I had 98% of everything I needed but no money for full blown resto at the same time as my 79. So now the 71 is just about done and it has been a blast to put it all together with super clean parts and make everything work as it should. I'm hoping next year to put it on the road. It's more of the rad rod look but super solid. Just every body panel is a different color. My 79 is coming along slowly but getting there. And I'm ok with that.

So I had altered my plans a bit and glad I did as I would have never gotten the 71 to the point it's at for a long time.

Not sure if this helps or not but that was my journey.

I think it depends on what you really want to own and drive? Having mutiple projects going at the same time is a bit overwhelming. I always have a driver and it's never sold until I have another one ready to drive. I only have one project in progress at a time. I often own several other project vehicles, but they have to wait their turn or they get sold.

With that said, I would finish the 76 asap and then decide if you want to keep/finish the other projects. Stay focused on the 76 until it's a driver.

The 76 just needs the bed reshot with paint and a few cosmetics. My 53 is my wife's cruiser and gonna stay family stock. I everything I need except to do the bodywork. I'll have to do a lot of body work and mods with the k10, so that's a long term project. I have just been having the temptation to convert the 76 to 4x4 and have the 53 as the cruiser. Space isn't an issue.

I just might one of those guys that prefers 51% of the time to working on projects than driving them, haha Thanks for the feedback.

At home on my own time, I prefer to finish large projects before I start another for fear that I'd never finish any of them. Problem is that I'm kinda like you in that I apparently prefer to work on them. I've had my next project truck sitting in the driveway for 5 years but can't seem to call the current '78 project done even though I've been daily driving it on and off for about a year now. I just keep finding that "one more thing" I want to do to it. Starting to run out of one more things though...

The problem I have is that when I have too many project cars/trucks, then I don't seem to make progress on any. I've slimmed down to my daily driven Jeep, the R30 (which is somewhat of a project, but I keep it driveable) and my full Jeep SJ project. When the Jeep project is done, then I'll find another project.
