8" 6 lug Steel Wheels

I just acquired a second 69 c10. It came with a mixture of stock (5.5"?) and 8" wheels. I was wondering what the story was on the 8" wheels. Were they an option? Did they just come on the back or all 4?

I've been searching and reading lots of interesting info but haven't come up any details on the 8" wheels.

Chris

I think they were a option on blazers and 4x4 1/2 tons

Re: 8" 6 lug Steel Wheels

The 15 x 8 steel wheels were aftermarket, like Kelsy Hayes, or GM 4wds had them as an option in the squarebody era. You didn't see many because most got rallyes and dealers went with the flashier wheel for the added cost. But back to pre-73, the wide steel wheels that would have come on a 6-lug would have been 16.5 x 8.25s for the 10.00 flotation tire option. Not sure that was available on C-series, but that's how it was for K-series.
