Front grille 72

Hello guys, I need some advice or suggestions. I have a 72 highlander ,the front grill is original. It is very pitted on the outer shell and faded on the inner grill. Should I buy a new grill completely or keep it and just paint the inner part of the grill? I'd like to keep it somewhat original as I restore it. If I do paint the inner part what color should I go with? And is there anything I can do to help the pitting on the outer? Any suggestions or advice?
Thanks

The outer, if original, should be aluminum - should just need a good polish? Im sure there's posts on here about restoring them. Can you post a pic of the pitting?

The inner I've seen people paint them black, or maybe "argent silver" is coming to mind for a close to original color.

I had planned to paint my inner but upon inspection the plastic was way more cracked than I anticipated.

Good luck.

Ok - yeah that looks like it's just oxidized. Do some research on polishing up old grills. I think i recall something about removing the old anodizing...but i'd bet you can bring it back to life.
