Question on 8 lug aluminum slot rims..

I picked up a real nice set of vintage aluminum 8 lug slot rims with brand new BF Goodrich tires on them at the flea market this past weekend for 100 bucks. The seller said they were off a Chevy 4x4. Will I be able too use these on my 70 2wd C30? I believe my studs are 1/2x20 and the one lug that came with the rims has a larger thread size. When I went to get new lugs all the parts guy had were lugs that had a smaller outside diameter than the one lug that came with these rims that fit perfectly thru the lug holes... I don't want any wobbles etc... Is there any way for me to get around this? Thanks for any help!

Re: Question on 8 lug aluminum slot rims..

Find another parts guy or parts store. You should be able to find the proper mag-style lug nuts with the right OD and thread size at most any Pep Boys. Or go on-line and look for Gorilla brand mag-style lug nuts and order what you need.

Re: Question on 8 lug aluminum slot rims..

I was gonna suggest the
"Lug nut king"
But I see you've already found him.
Much better quality than junk mcguard or rallie lugs.
He can set you up with excalty what you need.

I've seen some slots that have very unique lugs but pretty sure those were all unilug setups.

You're not really thinking of ditching the steel wheels are you?
You have one of the coolest trucks on this board!

Re: Question on 8 lug aluminum slot rims..

Thanks guys, I'm gonna grab the lug nuts from the Lug nut king..
I will keep the split rim and factory hub cap setup and I will no doubt put them back on at some point. Slots have always been a favorite of mine and every once in a while I like to switch things up a little. I also have a problem with one of the split rims. I've had for at least a yr. now a shimmy between 55 and 65 mph that drives me nuts. I have had it balanced numerous times to no avail. I put a junk rim and tire on to see if the problem goes away and it does. Maybe its the new Cooper tire but the tire shop swears it isn't, could be something out of whack with the split rim. I've also had to replace tubes on 3 different occasions because of nails and screws. One thing that really sucks about split rims (at least in my experience) is when you pick up a nail or screw its an instant flat, nothing slow about it. It has always happened in the worst places.

I've taken drum brake K/20s and changed the studs to 9/16s.

Re: Question on 8 lug aluminum slot rims..

I might want to get rid of the BF Goodrich road and trails and put a road tire on these rims. Where do you guys find 16.5 tires for a 10.5 inch rim? I'd like to find an old school looking tire if that makes any sense. I like to keep everything period correct looking. Seems no one around here has anything...

Unfortunately, not too many options left! I had to find another set of wheels for my crew cab build and sold off my 16.5 slots.
