Re: 15 inch tire and wheel combos only

Has anybody ran into a problem running 15 inch factory steel wheels in the front? I just converted my truck to 5 lug disc and with a drop spindle but seem to possibly have too much backspacing..? The inside of the wheel hits the spindle where the tie rod connects.. any info would be helpful thanks.. owh and the wheels I am trying to use are from a 89 1/2 ton

The 88 up wheels have more back spacing than the previous wheels.

Loving my Tiger Paws! Too bad these aren't made anymore; these are somewhat old and cracked and make me a bit nervous on the highway!

255/70R15's all around

69 with:
15x7 Rally in front, 255/60-15
15x8 Rally in rear, 275/60-15
ECE 4.5/6 drop with 5 lug conversion and disc brake conversion in front
No c-notch, no rubbing or bottoming out

The rear tires are 1.5" inside the rear fender edge, which is something I'd like to address eventually.

My eyes must be playing tricks on me but in that first picture (maybe the second too), I would swear you have the 15x7 on the back and 15x8 on the front.

15x8 Rally wheels with 32x11.50 Cooper Discoverer tires. I will say that the 3" trim rings are plastic junk.

You can get decent stainless set for about $60. I just ordered these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&s=ci&mail=sys

How about this set-up. Adapters available for this wheel/cap combo

I can see how it looks that way, especially in the first pic. At that angle it looks like there is no dish at all in the rear, but there is some.

15x8 are on the back, 15x7 are on the front for sure. Here's another pic that shows it better:

Yeah that looks like I’d expect it to look. Boy, that first pic looks like all the dish is on the front wheel.

Were there clearance issues?

Took of the 15" rally rims. I like these now.

Looks great! I think there are at least three of you now with the thinner white wall like this. And I know there are a few with a white wall that is a touch larger. All good looking rides.

Are those Coopers?

Re: 15 inch tire and wheel combos only

I feel like there are less and less of us using 15" wheels anymore but I am not looking to ever change my feelings about it. I think it's the right look for the series of trucks. Our 15" tire availability will get less with time but I think somebody will make them long after I'm gone.
I presently have 8" rallys with 255/70/15 all around on my 69 stepper with 4.5/4 drop. I'm not finished by a long shot but lately I'm thinking I might like to shorten the tire height to 255/60/15. Roughly 1" shorter in height but same width. I'm thinking 'bout it.

I often read where people say they need the giant wheels and tires to fill up the wheel well. Looks like you did an amazing job of that with 15's without overdoing it. What a great look.
