Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

Does it have a jump seat on the passenger side? How cool!

I hope you keep that Wurden Fire Dept. emblem on it

Yes the jump seat folds down to make a bench like seat as well.
It looks like it was used as an ambulance as well.
I am probably going with the Fire dept. lettering again when finished which is quite a ways off for paint.

Do you have a front saddle mount for the 283?

I had a 73-81 Blazer tank in my 65 Suburban several years ago. I fit perfect in the original home. I just had to modify the filler tube a little, and find a fuel guage that would work with it.

What kind of fuel gauge did you end up with?
That is basically what I am doing.
Added a crossmember to adjust where the supports go an fits perfect.

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

Cleaned out the back so I could check the fit for the middle seat (Astro van) and plan the frame, fit well enough for a beer break to try the height out.
Almost got the rear shocks on but had a problem taking out the old bushings which fit much better than the Chinese ones that came with the shocks.
Got the rubber mounted on the tank almost ready to mount it up.
Got the air cleaner on, getting close to starting it up, throttle linkage is getting there. Slowly getting there. will try to get some pictures next time.

It´s ALIVE! Got the tank in with a very successful club evening. Fired her up and broke in the cam. Runs great worth the LATE night! Little sleep now off to work. More when we get a video of her.

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

I think it is from about a 97 chevy astro van. I have 2 captains chairs waiting to go in the front from another astro van that are the same material, and trying to put a couple Chrysler folding seats in the 3rd row as well for vehicle inspection.

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

Went for the first drive up and down the road a few times today.
Small problems worked out, cracked fuel line at the pump to carb.
Replaced.
Cleaned the carb.
Tightened hoses.
Put the hood on.
Now to take it to vehicle inspection hopefully tomorrow.
Cross you fingers that they dont find anything that dosent comply.
Will post some pictures next time.

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

If they do find something that does not comply, what do they do and what is the next step for you? Is it simple or complicated?

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

That is a complicated question.
If they find something then I have time to fix it then go back.
Unless they just cant figure it out as it is the only 62 here.
I am going to have to weigh it then see where we are at.
I know they came with all
the seats but it is a problem with the way they figure out how much it can haul.
Have to see what it weighs first.
They figure 165lbs per person then times 8 seats with the total vehicle gvwr.
