Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat

I need one as well & would pay a couple hundred for an original looking rubber mat. Maybe more since it's my only available option.

Well, I could be mistaken. The mat pictured in my previous post is the one that was in my 62 C20 when I got it, and as far as I can tell that truck was completely original and unmolested. It even has near perfect factory seat upholstery, so I know the interior was well taken care of. I guess it could have been swapped out, but that would surprise me.
For more reference, I will include a picture of the mat in my 66 C20, also a low hump. The texture is very similar (if not the same), but you can see a slight difference in the pattern.

Ok, to further confuse the issue of mat identification, here's a pic of the mat in my '65 Suburban, a 46K mile survivor.

I guess we'll have to allow more members to post before either of us can be positive.

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat

Looks like we have a larger variety of mats available for the older years that we were unaware of.
Here's another thread showing even a third pattern;

And what's interesting about his mats is they actually have the dates stamped on them.

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat

My sense that those are not OE mats is reinforced by the fact that the boxes they came in are not GM boxes, but clearly aftermarket. Agreed?

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat

That's a valid point.
Probably just odd aftermarket patterns.

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat

We'll eventually get to the bottom of this.
Pimpston, that box/mat you had was no doubt vintage, but may have been aftermarket. Most, if not all GM issued parts or accessories had GM/Chevrolet logos and both group and part numbers listed on the box.
Below is an example of a period mat in an original GM box (not a truck, but impala or something).

Ditto - my 1965 GMC has the identical color & pattern as the 62 & 65 pictured above. I desperately need a replacement. Just spent $175 for black vinyl Matt from ACC as an interim but I'm still holding out hope that someday, someone will offer a correct, high hump reproduction.

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat

Tranny is a SM420.
I checked the shifter and it has the bowtie emblem at the bottom. Yall think it's been re-shaped? I'll have to do some searching for the correct pattern. When I pulled it, it didn't show any signs of heating, or stress cracks. But...

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat

All I know is my sm420 shifter is one bend she of Yours. Granted I have to later model casting so the housing by my reverse gear is Finned. Vs. Yours that's smooth. So I don't know if early model sm420s had a different shifter Than late model ones. but I couldn't imagine they'd differ. It'd be a waste of time. Unless there was seat clearance issues. that shifter does look like the one on a sm465 that I have. Don't think there interchangeable...
