Help with brake parts URGENT!

2005 chevy silverado 1500 6 lug 2wd needs new rotors and pads.

Q's about the pads

Semi metallic or ceramic

Electronic wear sensor or no?

Integrally molded with shims or no?

Does brand really matter?

Q's about rotors

Cross Drilled and slotted, solid, slotted, or slotted and dimpled?

And what diameter? I've seen 12-13 inches

Does brand matter?

Re: Help with brake parts URGENT!

If it has disc in the front and drum in the rear it's probably a 13 inch front rotor.

I believe the OE might have been ceramic.

Personally, I have had the best luck with the Centric stuff.

Re: Help with brake parts URGENT!

you shouldn't have drums in the rear on that truck...you don't need sensors unless your vehicle is equipped with them already (and that's only because the message will annoy you). I go with ceramic personally...rotors really depend on how much braking you do, and how hard. cross powerslotted and dimpled means nothing to a guy that isn't really driving the truck hard enough to require all the extra cooling. all that being said...brand is just a thing most guys are opinionated on. go with the ones you've been using and you'll be fine.

btw a quick google search will tell you what size rotors to buy.

Re: Help with brake parts URGENT!

99-04 GMT800 truck had rear disc with a 12 inch front rotor

05-07classic GMT800 truck would usually have 13 in front with Drum rear brakes.

There are a few exceptions. The obvious exceptions would be options like AWD, Quadrasteer, or the 1500 HD package which all would have had Disc in the rear.

I have never seen actual sensors on the front brake pads for the GMT800 platforum.

Most brands have a premium line and a budget line. Personally I stick with Premium replacement parts. I have had nothing but issues with the budget line stuff. One of my recent acquisitions had drilled and slotted rotors and I could not tell the difference.
