8 350 fender emblem 1970?

So I have a 1970 c10 rear wheel drive. Did these trucks come with the 8 350 badge on the fender, where was it located if it did. I picked up a set over the weekend and thinking of installing them in the correct location.

Re: 8 350 fender emblem 1970?

I can't find a pic online for ref, but my 70 has the emblems on the rear of the fender. C/10 on top, 8 350 right below.

Here's a picture of my '69 original fender and holes. The '70s should be the same. The engine embems on '71s and '72s were moved under the front side marker lights.

I don't have that sharp a picture, but my '70 looks the same except that the script above the (400 engine label) says Custom Camper. Did your truck come from the factory without a V-8 engine?

Re: 8 350 fender emblem 1970?

The truck was originally a 307, 3ott. It had a 350 motor in it when I got it. We were at a hot rod flea market over the weekend and I bought a bunch of stuff for the truck.

I just wanted to install the 8 350 emblems in the correct spot for a 70. There is alot of photos for 71-72 bellow the marker light.

Re: 8 350 fender emblem 1970?

My 1970 has just the "C/10" on the front fenders below the cowl (Original paint) but no 8/350 emblem. The truck came with a 350 in it when I bought it two years ago, but it was not the original engine. I guess I never thought of it, but it could have been something other than a 350. (It does have an SM465 trans though)

Re: 8 350 fender emblem 1970?

I took these pics yesterday just before the ghosts and goblins showed up at my door. These are stock emblems on stock fenders on a '70 C10 that came from the factory with a 350. As far as I can tell these emblems have not been moved since they were first installed at the factory. Hope this helps.

Re: 8 350 fender emblem 1970?

The more this thread goes on, the more it interests me. I just reconfirmed that the VIN on my truck indicates it came with a 350 from the factory. (Second digit is an "E").

Anyway, why did some trucks come with these "8/350" badges and some didn't? (My truck is original paint and definitely doesn't show any signs of having had these badges. Could it be that my truck is very basic and they only came on the higher optioned trucks?

It’s possible that some manufacturing/assembly plants used different styles of emblems based on what was available (cost effective) to them and their location. Is it possible that my truck came with these badges because it was built in Canada? That said, I have seen both styles of emblems on trucks up here, it’s possible that the emblems were specific to the trim/options ordered. If I remember I’ll post some pictures of the SPID label.

Re: 8 350 fender emblem 1970?

Here's my understanding...

The 1969 and 1970 trucks all came with emblems on the fender which indicated the trim level of the truck or had "CustomCamper" emblems if that option was ordered. Two wheel drive 1/2 ton base trim level trucks would have had "C/10" emblems, the mid-trim level would have had "CustomDeluxe/10" and the top trim level would have had "CST/10" emblems. If the V8 trucks didn't have an optional engine, there would not have been an engine emblem below the trim level emblem. Likewise, if a 6 cylinder truck didn't have the optional engine, it wouldn't have an engine emblem. Therefore, the optional engine V8 trucks would have had "8 350" emblems, "8 396" (1969) or "8 400" (1970). The 6 cylinder trucks with the optional engine would have had "292" emblems. No engine emblems for the base 307 V8 or 250 6 cylinder.

The "E" only indicates the truck is a V8. It does not mean the truck had one of the 2 optional V8s. That would have been called out on the SPID.

Re: 8 350 fender emblem 1970?

Well I got the drivers side emblem on tonight, mounted it under the C/10 on the fender. Its my everyday driver, there is a 350 in it now, and I think the emblems look good. Enough said.
