I don't know what color my truck is! Don't have a paint code...

Hey guys,
I'm kinda stumped as to whether my truck is light red, medium red, Hugger orange, Omaha orange, or a 514 or 516 paint code. Sometimes the inside looks red, sometimes it looks orange. No build sheet in the cab. After searching here, less sure of what color it is than when I started! LOL. I've come here to get your guys' opinions or knowledge bestowed upon me!

So, normally, I'd pick the color that I liked and not look back, but with this truck I have a different plan. I don't want to paint the inside of the truck. Not because of laziness, but, I really love the wear that the 50 year old interior paint of this truck shows. I like that the paint on the drivers door and under the ignition is worn through from 50 years of use. I want to leave the interior of the truck as is. I know that I can take the glove box door to a paint shop and have them match the pont, but I'm trying to figure out what actual color this truck is. I thought that searching here would answer my question, but it's got me more confused about what color my truck actually is. I've got it narrowed to either 514 or 516 orange or red. I see that these two paint codes have received different names over the years. Anyone know?

Sorry I can't be of any help, I'm in the same boat as you. Yours definitely looks more red than my 67 that is original paint in and out. Nice interior though!

I appreciate the input! I figured that it was orange. But, the more I've read through other posts about the light red truck fading and appearing more orange as time goes on, I've gotten more confused. I just always viewed it as an orange truck, but the interior seems a little more red than orange. I didn't go take photos in the vest light to get the best view of the color. I just attached some photos that I had on my phone.

It's definitely not 524 hugger orange
Sure it's original paint?
There was an original red paint but I'm not familiar with it.
Google gm truck paint codes for your truck.
Should be there

I have googled the paint codes. Yes, its original as far as I can tell. I figured that it's either the 514 or 516, orange or red. The more I research it, the less sure I am of what it is.

If that's a '68 GMC the color is 514 red. That was the only red in 67/68, except Vermillion (515) which is maroon. The only Orange in those years was Tangiers/Omaha Orange (516) which is pumpkin orange. That is definitely not an orange in my eyes. That is red.

I see at least your cab is originally from a 3/4t truck.

This is Tangiers Orange (516):

FWIW - 514 red and 524 hugger, which, as Tim points out, wasn't available that year, are often confused in pictures for some reason (myself included) - I'd agree that definitely looks like good ol 514 red. It's definitely not 516.

My 1968 Chevrolet Was worded as Red Trim. As you will notice the different colors of the interior due to sun and weather fading and sitting in a field for more than 25 years. The interior color was the 514 and never repainted. It looks orange, red, and a maroon. Hope this helps you some.

That 516 is an awesome color. I like it more than standard white/hugger on a SWB.
