roof rack for 1972 suburban

Does anyone here know where I can find a rack for the roof so we can haul a canoe on our Suburban?

They can be hard to find. I would keep an eye on the parts board. Trouble is when they are listed they usually go pretty fast. Your best bet would probably be to get a 6 month subscription and put a "Wanted To Buy" on the "Blazer & Suburban Stuff" classifieds.

I just bought some of these for my burb last month. I feel they have a vintage look to them that I like. You can buy bars for them or build a basket/rack.http://www.nrs.com/product/3200/quic...-top-racks-set

I was going to link to the same gutter clamps. A member here made a nice surf rack with that classic look for his burb.

Re: roof rack for 1972 suburban

realizing this is an older thread, I thought I'd add my experience for a roof rack to fit my 1972 Suburban. I wasn't looking for original equipment, just something that's reliable and simple. It' s my daily driver, not a show truck.

I ended up ordering a Thule Gutter Foot Pack 300, with Thule SquareBar 65" bar.

It turned out to be pretty sturdy, and a real easy installation (once you pick your desired spacing). I tested it out this Memorial Weekend with a trip to the beach carrying my surfboard.
