My father in law has a 1970 K5 he just finished. It came with a 454 and he put a 350 back in it. The front sits higher that the rear so we were thinking they added springs for the weight of the 454. Can anyone tell me how many leaf springs are supposed to be in the front and rear?

The front has 2 unless optioned with HD springs then 3. The rear I think 5 will have to look tonight when I get home.

Most of the pictures I found online show 3 leafs in the front. I looked at the LMC catalog last night and they offer both a 2 spring and 3 spring option as a replacement.

Like Rippen1 said the 3 leaf is HD (stiffer spring option), 2 leaf is the norm. spring. Every show I go too that has a blazer has a 2 spring. The 3 spring is HD and gives it a little of a lift. But that said about lift, the fronts always were about an inch higher in the front doesn't matter the leafs in the front..

Just checked. His has 8 leafs in the rear and 7 in the front. I'm assuming that means it has a lift kit?
