Carrier Bearings (again...) Leaf Spring truck

I need a new carrier bearing for my '69 short step. 307/TH350 with a leaf spring 12 bolt. The bearing setup looks nothing like the ones I find for sale online. It has the bolts left to right instead of front to back, and it's riveted inside a framework. I bought a similar setup at the local autoparts store, but it's NOT a bolt in by any stretch. And spacers would have to be utilized to get it even CLOSE to being in proper alignment. Anybody have any leads? Here's the picture of mine.

Are there 4 bolts mounting it to the bracket? Also is the bearing in a 2 piece housing? Check this site.

Re: Carrier Bearings (again...) Leaf Spring truck

Pull the carrier bearing and measure the I.D. then go to www.rockauto.com and in the menu select your make, model, year, engine size then drivetrain and it's under "drive shaft center support" and get a "slip yoke style" assembly, and buy a "made in the USA" part because the Chinese stuff is junk.
Do yourself a favor and buy new stainless bolts because they wont ever rust and nyloc nuts so you don't need lock washers, because eventually you will need to change out the carrier bearing again and when you do it will be a lot easier next time.

Re: Carrier Bearings (again...) Leaf Spring truck

Thanks for the links and the ideas both of you. Looks like I might be able to cut the rivets and replace that bearing assembly with the one from driveshaft specialist. For $32. Nice.

Take it to a DRIVELINE SHOP. It has to be ballanced after a new carrier is installed anyways. If the rest of the parts are good enough to reuse it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.
