1976 gmc c30

Long time watcher, first time poster.
I have joined this forum over the years in multiple forms and always wanted to get my hands on a LHD truck.
Well finally got one a few months ago and slowly making some changes.

its a 454 GMC C30 and runs pretty well.
Wondering a few things:
What kind of diff would be in it and ratio?
Will a weiand 177 or 144 fit under the hood you think?
Who is someone you trust in the USA for adapters to run semi wheels?

Anyway, good to be apart of the crew.

Beautiful truck. I would assume at least a 4.11 gear, if not lower like 4.56 or 4.88. Not sure about your other questions. Welcome to the board.

Re: 1976 gmc c30

Regular cabs almost always had the 4.11 as they were typically not the hd tow vehicles crews were. They were used more as work trucks. 3+3's usually got the deepest gears of the C30's.

A 144 or 177 can fit under the hood, but it works much easier with a 2 inch cowl. The flat hood chokes off air due to the drop base air cleaners with shorter filters.

If I was spending that kind of money. I would seriously consider a 6-71 or 8-71. Your low compression big block can take what they can dish out. Plus when you open the hood. It won't matter if your bald, have skinny arms, chicken legs, and or anything else. You'd have a blower. The larger blowers are not that much more and you will still need all the same accessories to make work. So cost increase to me is worth it. The 144's or 177's work great on sbc's, but get a bit small for a big block. Also if you do the blower. Budget in a blower cam. It really wakes up engines on boost, and they work quite a bit better around town too.
