That’s a neat, clean and simple truck. I like it. It’s nice to see one that isn’t over-killed.

Thank you. It was hard for me not to do a full restoration as we were doing all the cancer
repair and had quite a bit apart. My wife reminded me it was a shop truck I bought to drive a lot and transport junk in.

I am glad she did because I am having a great time with it and dont have to worry about any scratches or rain or anyone leaning on it.

Thank you for the nice comments

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

I was scrapping 67-72 trucks a few years ago and thought I had a couple of old stabilizer bars laying out back and since this truck didn’t have one on it, thought I better check the back pile.

I did have two that had sunk into the ground and had to dig them out. They weren’t pretty but cleaned up nicely. Bought new mounts and rubber bushings then installed one on the 67.

Wow what a difference in handling that made. The truck no longer feels like it is rolling over when cornering.

Gave the second one to my buddy so he could but it on the 84 square body he is building for his 16 year old daughter.

It is so cool seeing this old junk being brought back to life and makes it worth keeping a junk pile in the back yard!

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

So I figured I would include some completed photos of this old girl as I am pretty much finished with it for the near future. Everything is now in working order and I am driving it as my daily now.

I even took it to the airport this week and left it there for 5 days while I am out of town. It will be nice to see it when I get off the plane.

I will also include some interior shots for you guys. It feels like I am driving a new 1967 truck when sitting inside it and that is exactly what I was going for.

With the mild drop and the tall skinny tires the truck just floats over the bumps in the road and has turned into a comfortable experience.

I know in the grand scheme of things this was a little update compared to a complete build but as I look back on this post we did quite a bit In less than two months.

Thanks for checking it out and sharing my rebuild!

Your radiator setup caught my eye, is that an OEM GM radiator?

Thanks for asking.

I have been using this one and my 87 square body as my daily drivers. Pretty cool to get up in the morning and and decide which one to jump in.

The stepper has a fantastic ride quality and handles great. It is the go to most of the time since it will absolutely smoke the tires at will and I am known to do that every now and then.

The big 29 inch tall 235/75/15 tires help cushion the road as well and contribute to the great ride quality.

Here is a few pics of it in use, and the 87 square.

Good eye. Yes it is the stock radiator and overflow tank with the factory upper and lower hoses.

I bought some electric fans for it since it is so hot here in Houston and I wanted my AC to work well while idling at long stoplights.

The stock mechanical fan might have worked but I didn’t want to have to redo anything if it didn’t

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

Would you mind sharing some details on your radiator/fans/shroud setup? I've been looking at radiator options and it seems like there's something wrong with Champion, RND, Griffin, and Cold Case which leaves Entropy or DeWitts but those are both $1,000 setups. If I could find an OEM radiator that fits in the 3-row mounts and is the right length and width for less money then that would be nice.

No secret sauce in my build, it was just the stock radiator out of the 2004 Silverado and an eBay fan kit with shroud that I added. If it would help I can probably find the eBay info for the shroud and fans. They were under 150 bucks if I remember right.

I never have any cooling issues even at 104 outside temps with the ac on at loooooong stoplights

Yes we painted the entire interior the factory blue color. Door panels are factory.

I have a set left over.

What did you do to mount the 5 hole wheel where the six lug was for the spare?

If you cut one stud off the mount then two of the studs will fit the 5 lug wheel. We then just welded the third stud back on the mount where it fit the five lug wheel.

Super easy, you only have to cut and weld one stud. If you are covering the lug nut with a hubcap like I did you probably don’t even need the third stud but I did it anyway

I was going to get two studs to replace the two I cut off. I'm hanging with one bolt so it would center the wheel on the mount. I never tried it with one bolt cut off ,when it wouldn't work with three I just cut two and hung it.
