Re: 67 long box

This is my bar stool racer I built from scratch, the steering has caster and camber in it. It also has chopped door springs as lowered suspension

I've had it clocked at 35mph, with a buddy driving my truck. The wheels will fold if I take it any faster. it's a 5 hp with 4 hp flywheel to give better timing and the bubba is the gas task. Cops don't like it for some reason.

I got the tranny cleaned, resealed and now working on the floor shifter. Not sure if my Schlitz beer tap will hit the dash.

Re: 67 long box

I am digging the beer tap. You might have to fab a cowl roof to provide clearance.

Re: 67 long box

had to make new shift rod arms from the tranny. seems my swap meet deal was not a complete kit. It's not that easy making a rectangle hole. it all has a new coat of paint. I started cleaning the rear end, blasting gets sand into it, so grinder and wire wheel.

The engine came out of a 1947 Chrysler ambulance. It has a torque converter in front of a clutch assembly. the converter was filled to certain level to give a stall converter affect. then a clutch with standard tranny was behind that. The end of the engine is the torque converter. We took the output shafts from the old standard and the new t5, cut, machined and welded to fit old clutch. When you drive it, it feels just like a regular stick but you can feather the clutch out at a stop like an automatic and just gas to go. I have no idea why Chrysler did this but it does work, mind you the engine with clutch and converter weighs 1000 lbs or so

Re: 67 long box

I would say I need new brake shoes at the least. I took the drum off and the linings fell off.

Re: 67 long box

Made the body dolly work for the box with a couple new brackets. Much easier to work on and move outside to prep for finish coats.

Re: 67 long box

Names of the old owners I guess, painted with new U- joints. Brought the cab back in to finish the floor to mount it. I decided to paint the interior as well. You can tell the roof was painted by someone inside the bed.
