Re: DARN! It has been Canceled
There are several, Fiddler and Blue Grass Festivals around here. I don't go, and don't know why. I'll let you know if I hear of one.

They have a blue grass festival every September, I think in Winfield Ks. just south of Wichita. I’ve got a couple of friends who go down to play every year. I’ve been wanting to go for years and just haven’t made it for one reason or another. I’m betting it ain’t going to happen.

Re: DARN! It has been Canceled
Fiddler lives matter!!
I used to go to a a lot of bluegrass festivals. I usually catch one a year. I'm not expecting much of any large events this year. I've accepted just waiting till next year. Friendsville, MD has it's own fiddle and banjo contest that has been running for a long time. Very smalltime to this day. You'll have kids to old timers up there playing. I'm kind of glad it never turned into anything big

Re: DARN! It has been Canceled
Beings I have Relatives in Weiser Idaho who has attended the World Famous National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest and Festival a few times ,,then ..............I'd say they know quite a bit about the gatherings every year..
One of them live a couple blocks from the school where the big event is held. .they can hear most of it from their back yard,, they along with others rent out a spot for a fiddler to part their camper each year. They tell me that for about 5 years now ,the masses of people that have been coming has dwindled quite a bit .. They do not know why ,,and all their guess is just that gueses..

Re: DARN! It has been Canceled
Our local Jazz Festival has been canceled for the first time since 1960. Kind of sad but I understand.

Re: DARN! It has been Canceled
Bummer, a summer without music. Summer without a bunch. But never fear, an antidote should be here soon after early November

Re: DARN! It has been Canceled
I get that hint, and I find it totally absurd that anyone would believe this virus is any kind of hoax. If a vaccine becomes available prior to election day I guarantee it will be made available to the public. And I guarantee it doesn't matter which card they carry to the polls, all the researchers are working equally hard to make a vaccine available to all ASAP. "Everybody" wants this thing over with and behind us. That's ev-er-y-bod-y.
And that's my non-political way of saying let's nip the politics right here and get back to the effects this worldwide health issue is having on public events. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I wonder why attendance has been dropping off, Larry. I go to The Watermellon Festival in Berryville, VA in September. That one is going strong as ever. But that isn't the same as a fiddler's contest. They bring in a big headliner act, like Del McCrory Marty Stewart, David Grisman. So it's music beyond traditional bluegrass, too. I go to that late September show on Saturday evening. the ATHS Tri-State Antique Truck Show is Thurs-Sat not far from the festival. They are saying the truck show is a go at this point. I'll have to check on the festival. Events of the spring through fall sure do serve to mark the time. This year feels so off. My sense of time relies on these happenings, it seems. The towns in this whole region all have their carnivals, either VFW or community group like Lions Club. My town has one of both. Each week one or more towns are having a carnival right up until the county fairs get started. Our second carnival would be this week, combined with 4th of July fireworks. Each rural town takes a night from 3rd through 5th, so you can get three nights of fireworks if you want. None of this happening sure is different.
