Is a "fair" '71 Suburban worth $300.00?

My next-door neighbor has had a 1971 Suburban for sale since last summer. He has had no luck. His price has dropped to the point that he's asking $ 500.00 OBO. I think that if I offered him $ 300.00, he would jump on it.

It is 2wd and moderately rusty along the bottom (surprise, surprise)
But the interior is relatively nice and he says it runs-kinda.

I was thinking that it might make a decent driver for not much money. And I could park my '72 Cheyenne during bad weather.

Also, is there anything special that I should look for? ( I don't know much about the old Burbs) I don't want to just buy something that I have to haul off for junk.

Thanks,

Terry

If it didn't run good you could sell it for parts and get your money back, for 300 you almost couldn't go wrong

I might be interested in the sub if it has a tailgate/rear hatch that is in good shape.

I haven't really looked it over very close yet. I was going to wait until the weather warms up a little. He has moved it back behind his barn for the winter. I think it has the "ambulance" style back doors. We're bracing for a major snowstorm today. I'll check on it as soon as I can.
