1954 pickup aftermarket front fender question

I did a search on here and really didn't find this question, so I'll ask..

Looking to buy front fenders for my 54 pickup project.

Wondering if anyone on here is running repo fenders?
If so where did you get them and what fitment issues did you have? Gaps, size, etc...

I just don't want to sink a bunch of money into new fenders if they are going to take more time to "adjust" them then it would to rebuild my shot ones.

Thanks, Cory

Crazy I just posted the same question and then found your post. I also am looking for front fenders for a 54 and have the same questions as you, what did you finally end up getting, and did they fit well? Thanks

Re: 1954 pickup aftermarket front fender question

well i have a 57 which is a totally differnt style than the 54..and iam really not happy with them.. get originals even if they have some rust or a ding or two...
with then new stuff your goin to have to cut to make fit properly, the old stuff you goin to have to cut to fix rust... in the end i would go for originals...bottom line your goin to have to cut. Plus the old seems to have better steel imo. they just have a more solid feel to them and slightly thicker gauge

Re: 1954 pickup aftermarket front fender question

i used all new metal on my 52 other than the cab, doors and hood. The fenders were fine for fit but the grille and the inner fenders were way off. Took a few hours of trying to flex stuff and redrill holes that were way out of whack.

Re: 1954 pickup aftermarket front fender question

Thanks for the replies! I'm in agreement about using the originals and cutting and straightening on them vs buying new and cutting and straightening on them, but my originals are pretty beat up and I would rather not end up with a lot of filler in them so if they flex they could crack. Filler won't be thick but they will be coated almost completely. I new last summer at a car show Herman Mo. that I met a man that had a 53or54 that he had put new fenders on and he said they fit really well with no modifications but I didn't get a chance to ask where they had came from. So if anybody know anything about the aftermarket 54 front fenders please say. Thanks

Re: 1954 pickup aftermarket front fender question

I went to LMC, in KC, for a new fender and hood worked great on my '57 after a deer cleaned me out.
I obviously use the hood often and it is sturdy and straight.
Check my "Roof" thread for photos.

Re: 1954 pickup aftermarket front fender question

Sorry just saw the replies. From what I found via asking people on a facebook ad pickup forum is that the repo front fenders don't fit well at all. Many people have had many problems with them. The rear fenders from lmc fit very well though.
