1976 Exterior Colors. Was Orange available or not?

I just received a few dealer brochures for 1976 and they don't show orange as an exterior color? Crimson Red but no orange. Am I missing it?

Thank you.

A great resource for researching questions like this is the GM Heritage Center and their Vehicle Information site: https://gmheritagecenter.com/gm-heri...tion-kits.html

I've attached the relevant paint page from the 1976 Trucks page, and was surprised not to see orange as an option either. I'm sure I remember seeing lots of trucks back then with in orange/white two-tone. Perhaps the Moss Gold (Dark) looks orange? I don't know, or maybe orange was a 1975 or 1977 color.

Aha - looking at the 1975 info, I see that Tangier Orange is listed as a "Permanent Fleet Color". The format for these information packs changed considerably for 76 and after, and there doesn't seem to be any mention of Fleet Colors after 75 although I suspect it was something that likely continued.

Yep, sounds like you got it figured out. Not a standard color for 76 for Series 10-30, but it could be special ordered and would have likely had a "special paint" code on the SPID. My former 76 shown below as an example.

Re: 1976 Exterior Colors. Was Orange available or not?

Well as a follow up....

I am convinced that the color of my truck was crimson red. There 73 or 70704. Not really sure which number is which. To me, its a very orangish red which is fine. I like the Tangier that was painted on it this year, although painted by two blind monkeys! ugg! I haven't decided to go with Tangier or theorginal crimson. Probably be crimson and white two tone.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Re: 1976 Exterior Colors. Was Orange available or not?

My Dad order a 76 stepside. When we went to the dealer to look they had a 76 step side it was a basic orange lighter and less red than the fleetside in the pic. It had white stripes on it that followed the body lines. It looked like a Dreamsicle to me I really liked that but my Dad wanted nothing to do with it. Later on I saw a black stepside with the same white stripes on it. Only 2 I ever saw with those stripes
