Cold weather and rain has been our forecast. A few more pictures. The red painting is complete. Next up will be the silver.

WOW. looking great. Are you going to mount the old two way on dash or roof top? Had one mounted on driver door but keep banging knee.

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild

Moose, I'm not sure I'm going to put a radio in it yet. I've had just a day here and there to work on this again. I had to remove the winch and get it broke loose from years of sitting. I ordered new bearings and seals for it. I ordered new bearings, races, lug nuts, studs, and seals for the wrecker dollies. I did some painting using chassis saver silver. I did give in on painting the bed black, well mostly, like it was originally.

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild

Finally got things coming together. I used Herculiner on the bed to make it more durable.

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild

It took me a full day to get the bed mounted on the chassis by myself. It's starting to come together.

With a few days here and there, there has been some progress made. I got the dollies and sling assembled. Mounted the power take off shaft and made the linkage.

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild

I got the clutch cable ran for the winch. The marker lights and the exhaust pipes mounted. In the process of rebuilding the winch right now and painting the west coast mirrors. It's been nice to be able to get a few things accomplished on this.

It's looking great!

I saw a 67/68 Chevy Wrecker out in the middle of nowhere yesterday and thought of your build! It may have been a runner, but looked like it needed a lot of work!

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild

Outfield, they are almost a thing of the past. That would have been neat to see. The days I've been able to work on this I have been doing the wiring. The wiring is all done on it now. One glitch I need to figure out. Just about done rebuilding the winch.

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild

Moose Monkey.
My one glitch is when I turn the right turn signal on my bright light indicator flashes on the dash. When I turn on my high beams on, my right turn indicator comes on in the dash. I think I need to switch the wiring.

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild

Dark blue right turn goes into switch. Light green high beam . goes to floor switch. See no glitch.

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild

I used factory wiring on this, not the original. I need to trace it down to where it is wrong and move the two wires. In the column area or the fuse box area. I'm not sure.
