I think there was something weird going on with this truck. I called the dude a few times back when it first showed on CL in early Dec and left a few messages but never got a response. Its been up for a month, may be sold, dont know.
Might be that they took pics w/ windows up because it was locked up, they didnt own the truck but knew the owner, posted it on CL thinking they could put a deal together, who knows.

Your right about it not feeling right. I saw the ad on December 8th, called him and drove right over there with my trailer. The guy had just finished an HEI conversion. He was bummed cause it was missing and mystified as to why. I spotted a couple plug wires crossed so I pressed on with my inspection of the rest of the truck.

Once I climbed under it I couldn't give him the cash quickly enough. NO rust except for the front portion of the inner fender under the battery. Inner & outter rocker's, cab corners, floors & supports, doors, fender, etc. Zero rust. I should have talked him down but I was afraid someone else with cash would come wheeling around the corner before I could get it on my trailer.

Got it home for evaluation and 2 cylinders only had 30 psi, so I immediately yanked that head. Top ring land is busted in one hole and the head gasket burned. Got on CL again and saw a stalled project 72' Longhorn in SF with a sweet running 73' 454 with 049 heads. Brought that home the next day for
$1k, so now I'm blending the best of both pickups. The green machine is so "Little Old Man" and clean. I cant wait to drive it!

I figured it got sold. Congrats bud, that looked like a sweet buy and a damn nice tuck for the price. Sounds like she is a gem and super clean. Right on!!!!

Cool! Great that it's so clean and rust free. Hard to find anymore for that price.

I'm trying to figure out if I want to yank the 350 and go with a BB in this 70. I've always been a small block guy. How's the fuel mileage on a BB? Mine is going to be a part time driver, pulling horses, hauling hay, general weekend suff.
