72 K10 Steering clunk left side leaf spring

Hey all... developed a steering clunk in the left side of my truck. It has a rebuilt lares steering gear recently installed. I don't think the clunk is coming from the steering gear. The left side spring lifts a little when you go lock to lock on the steering wheel...and makes a clunk. Spring bushings maybe?

Re: 72 K10 Steering clunk left side leaf spring

I had a guy come over the other day that had a "clunk" in his steering...I crawled under while he turned the wheel....its was his steering box.....it was moving on the frame under load...the bolts even though tight were letting the box move....when it moved it would pop.....Mostly when he went to full lock...

Re: 72 K10 Steering clunk left side leaf spring

Glad you found it....do you have the reinforcing plate on your frame....these frames are notorious for cracking around the steering box....
