Ford 8 lug vs. Chevy 8 lug wheel

Will a stock wheel from a Ford F250 8 lug fit on my C20 8 lug truck? I picked up a spare tire and wheel from a Ford and am not sure if I can use it as is or if I have to remount it on my spare wheel.

Should bolt right up. As far as I know 8 lug is 8 lug for 3/4 and 1 ton anything.

Re: Ford 8 lug vs. Chevy 8 lug wheel

What year are the wheels?

The newer stuff (97+?) is metric and will not fit. The older stuff is 8 on 6.5" and will fit. The center hub hole might be a different size though.

Ford rims are lug centric. I have them on my 69 C/20.

Re: Ford 8 lug vs. Chevy 8 lug wheel

as far as wheels go, atleast for 4x4s i know you have a 2wd truck. but 8 bolt dodge and ford will bolt to a chevy but an 8 bolt chevy wheel has a smaller center hole for the hubs and wont fit onto a ford or dodge im pretty sure

Re: Ford 8 lug vs. Chevy 8 lug wheel

I have 2002 ford HD wheels and they fit on the 8 lug Chevy 81 in my case. It will not fit the Dana 60 axles of one of my friends from the same year.

Re: Ford 8 lug vs. Chevy 8 lug wheel

I just test fitted the Ford 8 lug on my 83 C20 and the lug bolt pattern was a match. There is about 1/4" slop in the center (hub) hole, so I can see how the Chevy rim would not fit a Ford because the Chevy center hole would be too small. The Ford rim should do the trick as a spare. Thanks.

I know this is an old thread but does any know if the 1/4" slop will cause me any problems? I just got a 73 c20 that had 16.5s with bad tires and i replaced with 16x7 ford rims. Drives fine with them but wanted to check

The Ford rims work good on the Chevy. No worries.

Re: Ford 8 lug vs. Chevy 8 lug wheel

The only difference...not slop, is that the wheel is held by the lug nuts (lugcentric) on Dodge and Ford, and not hubcentric that is held Snug by the hub and lug nuts. Thus the bigger hole which was also needed to clear Ford Dana 60 hubs as they have an extra lip on them that Chevy Dana 60's do not.

Re: Ford 8 lug vs. Chevy 8 lug wheel

I ended up getting the tire dismounted from the Ford rim and mounted to my Chevy 8 lug wheel, and selling the Ford wheel on CL. Since then, I was able to find some nice 8 lug Dodge chrome steel wheels which had good tires and I still have the Dodge wheels on the C20. I bought the set of 4 Dodge wheels with good Yokohama tires ($250) from CL and got another 2 Dodge wheels with BFG commercial T/As from the local pick and pull junkyard ($70). Since I drive less than 1000 miles annually (all city) these tires are all I need. So now I have 11 wheels and tires (including the original Ford spare tire.

I also picked up some used tires for my luxury sedan (2002 Cavalier) since I was getting a tire puncture every 2 months on that car. Whenever I get a flat it is always on a street with no place to pull over, so I have to drive a block or so to get to a side street, and by that time the sidewall on the tire is shot. The tires and wheels are $35 each at the local pick and pull.

Considering the cost of new tires, I think I am going to buy only used tires in the future. I would not trust them for long highway driving, but I usually rent a car if I am going out of town.

I am still looking for a decent set of 4 hub caps for my 73 GMC, 8 lug, 3/4 ton. I found two Chevy for the time being.

I think I have one 16" GMC cap on my 4 door. I'll check tomorrow.
