burban leaf springs

Getting ready to buy new leaf springs for the 72 3/4 4x4 suburban. My stock springs seem to sag bad. I talked to a supplier and they asked about leaf count. Fronts they said were 2 or 3 leaf springs. Mine is 2 leaf on front and 5 leaf on rear. What is the difference in leaf counts and will it affect height, ride or both? I want a the tallest "stock" height and ride!! I plan to run either 235/85R/16 or 265/75R/16 tires but want a level highboy look.

In order to make a real comparison, you need to analyze each leafs spring rate, thickness, and arch. Best bet is to just custom order a spring that will do what you want.

For your 3/4 ton, I would just buy a complete 2 1/2" lift with front and rear springs, steering arm, shocks, etc. That would look fine with a 305 75 16 (33 12.5 equivalent tire.)

spring delema

No pun intended on SPRING DELEMIA!! Who has the best kit like this at a good price? Do any of our fellow board vendors sell such a beast? I don't really want a tall truck with big tires for this burb it will be more of a sunny weekend family driver. I did see a set of nice looking 285/16's today on a F250 that didn't look too big. Good advise on spring rate and arch. Is there a way to find out what these numbers were on stock ones? I think these springs are 3" wide, didn't pickups use 2 1/2" wide ones? Do burbs use bigger spring (would make sense because of vehicle weight). The vendor I spoke with talked about $150/spring is this a good price? ($600/ set sounds steep).

I also want to paint or powder coat them, any recommendations? (hate to see new parts turn rusty in short time on restored vehicle.)

I bought my 6" skyjacker lift complete with everything including shocks last year at the Lima Jambo for $580.00 with blocks which i am going to have to get rid of and have springs made but i would think on a 2 1/2" lift blocks would be fine.

Skyjacker has complete kits as noted, but I wouldn't do blocks at all. Especially on a 30 year old vehicle. I don't think any board vendors are Skyjacker dealers, however.
