Build sheet locations

On the subject of Build Sheets.
What were the most common locations that the sheets were put in the trucks?
I’ve read that they were put under the springs in the seats, up under the dash, and even “the back” of the gas tank.
Are there any other “places to look”?
I’ve heard of the gas tank location. Is it on the back side or facing the interior?
The seat and the carpet in my truck were redone before I bought it, so those two spots are long gone.

For trucks I'd say under the seat, between the cushion and the springs was your best bet.

"Was" = past tense.

In later years you could find them under the carpet, above the headliner, stuffed in the A pillar trim, under the dash pad or inside the door panels, but these trucks often/usually don't have that level of trim.

The one I pulled out a few days ago from a 72 Fremont truck was in the seat back springs on the passenger side.

My Fremont built 72 Cheyenne Super was also on the back passenger side under the springs

My Fremont built truck yielded 2 buildsheets, 1 under the seat springs and 1 behind the gas tank. The 1 behind the tank was the most salvageable.

My 72 Fremont had it taped to the floor under the jute padding. It's in remarkably good shape.

I found mine under the seat under three different seat covers and was in sad shape. 72 model.

Anybody find a build sheet from a St. Louis built truck? Location?

I once owned a 71 Fremont truck that had its actual build sheet in the seat bottom, and a different truck's build sheet in the seat back. I'd imagine whoever got shorted their build sheet wasn't too worried about it (but I'm glad mine was there )

Yeah, the “Under seat” sheet is long gone.
My truck is from the Janesville WI plant, and near as I can find from the Paperwork I do have, is that she rolled off the line on 16 January 1970, and was sold in Winner SD on 30 January 1970.
Maybe I get lucky if I ever pull the gas tank out, and find one bend there

My Fremont trucks buildsheat was behind the seat on the passenger side also . It's in very good condition . Makes sense as the drivers side of the seat was completely trashed whereas the passenger side was real nice.

Last four trucks had them on back of seat wedged between the metal springs.

Here is one from a 72 K20 with the blue seat, and the other one with red seat was from a 68 K20 long bed step side truck that had bits and pieces all over the back portion of the floor and under the seat.
Was able to piece most of it together.

That is nice. Mine is not quit that nice. I'm gearing up for a frame off on my 46K mile 65 corvette. Hoping the build sheet is still on the tank. I believe my car is a factory 365/327, 4sd, teak, knockoffs. I've pretty much confirmed the 365/327 from all the various clues like tach, build dates, distributor and other part numbers, etc. Stamp pad was removed in a rebuild by original owner, he made no bones about how good the car was on the track. I bought the car in about 72 with 30K hard miles from the original owner.
