I've been collecting parts for a Pro Touring C/10build. I'm 6'4'' I think I'll need to build a extended cab/SWB to fit in. My thoughts are taking 2 cabs combining the them for a door 6'' longer for more leg room. Has this been done before. Dont want a 4 dr truck. Any thoughts or Help would be appreciated.Thanks

Just 1 old guy's opinion... I've liked these trucks since they came out in '67. I'm afraid after the modifications the truck will look out of proportion, even if your fit & finish is as good or better than factory. After looking at this body style for 50yrs. I don't think it's gonna be pleasing to MY eye anyway... might surprise me though. If YOU spend the time & money & it makes YOU happy it's a success. I've seen pictures of late model GM trucks with slant nose front caps that didn't look too bad. I understand the problem with the interior room, I'm only 6' but fat and my GMC isn't comfortable. Shortening the steering column helped some. I've been kinda looking at '88 thru 2000 Chyenne's, roomier inside, clean single headlight front and they don't seem to rust as bad.

What you are describing has been done. I will do some diggng to find it (if I can). I think the proportions didn't look out of place. I believe it was a silver truck. I will see what I can find.

Wow this was 2004 so I am not sure where the truck might be now. The one I remember is the silver one in this post. Since this has been over 17 years ago I would like to think it has been done a few times since then as well. Lots of neat and useful things being done to these cabs to make them more comfortable.

If you've got the truck, the tools, and the skill, why not? Looking at the pics Custom 68 posted, I think it would make people do a double-take to figure out what was different from a stock truck.

I looked into it an looked at the measurements. If you take a lwb frame and put a swb box on it that will give you 12 + or - " to extend your cab. take the back of your cab and most of the roof and move it back. Then you can buy a replacement roof. That was with a standard size door. If you are going to lengthen the door then you would need to move the pillar and it might be better to section the whole cab.

I miss my old 72 extended cab, it was the most comfortable to drive of all the trucks I've had. Here's a few pics I saved of one that was extended to the rear of the cab. It would be a lot of work but if you were to split the difference and extend the doors 3" and the rear of cab 3" it would probably be a lot less noticable. You might even be able to sneak in 7 or 8 inches.

I built this in 1996 and sold it 2 years ago. 22” added with a small bench in the back. I did move the front seat back slightly for more legroom

Thanks for the comments. A friend did this photo shop of a cab extended. The cab was lengthened & bed shortened the distance the cab was lengthened.
