1948 Chevrolet Engine Swap to 292
I just purchased a 292 inline this past weekend. The engine came out of a 72 shortbed with a granny 4spd. I am trying to verify the year of the engine. Casting number is 3994258, the stamping number near the distributor is F1123TKL. I am having trouble finding information on these numbers. The block has the tall side covers. It is a 292. "F" is for truck, I believe, and I think the 1123 means 11th month and 23rd day followed by the letters TKL. I would like to have a year range. Can anyone help to decipher the stamping code? Thanks

F is for Flint.
Your suffix shows 70-72 292 in lmc index. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=10 |
