Well, the square is on the back burner again. I had surgery to remove my bad eye last week and now I have to get ready to cook at our county fair. I am building a pole tent that looks like a barn and a new cabinet smoker. the fair is next weekend so lots to get done.

Smoker frame done and outside skinned with 14 gauge.

I appreciate it. The eye has been broken since 97 so I really don't miss it at all. It has been getting irritated a lot in the last few months so it needed to go. I will definitely post completed pics.

Completed pics of the smoker, not the eye. I get my prosthetic eye in September and I'm hoping the doc will have a sence of humor and let me get it painted like an 8 ball.

Hang in there Big D, it'll get done when it gets done. If you do an 8 Ball get the kind where you can shake your head and the answer comes up different each time.

Good idea Front Range, but I really don't see that one happening. I have entertained the thought of making molds of it so I can make some of my own. I thought about one with a red LED and someone suggested a hollow one so I could put my weed in there. I don't smoke so that wouldn't be that useful to mo though, but a good suggestion anyway.

Anyway, the smoker should be getting painted tonight. I have one more panel to weld on the bottom of the exhaust stack, then we will add some color.

The plate on the bottom will hold my 18" propane burner. For this unit's immediate purpose it will not be a smoker. I will be smoking on my small 55 gallon smoker, wrapping in foil, and using this unit as a finishing oven. I will build the fire box and the main smoking chamber for this one a little later on.

I just read your entire build, and I have to say great work! It looks great. I also like your shop and am jealous. At least you caught some fish on your trip. My deadline dates always pass by like yours too. Sucks about the jeep. Have you thought about a FItech unit for it by chance? The smoker looks awesome and I'm really curious to see this pole barn tent . It sounds really cool. I hope the eye situation goes as planned too.

I have no idea...this is my first one. my goal is 1000 pounds to make my target of $15,000. We'll see how it goes. today hasn't been good because it has been raining off and on and there aren't many people here. I'm sitting on 200 pounds of meat ready to serve.

Wow, I haven't posted on here in a while. Still haven't touched the truck. I finished the fair and lost my ass. They had me in a terrible location separate from most of the food vendors and overall attendance was pretty bad for the fair. I ended up about $2600 in the hole. To recoup my losses I will be cooking at a big dirt track race here in a couple weeks. They are paying out over 60K so it will bring in a lot of drivers which will bring in a lot of spectators. I finally started the motor swap in my son's Saturn. Once that is done I need to do a wheel bearing in my Cobalt and get some things done on the Trailblazer. Maybe after all that I can get back to the truck. Then again, hunting season starts today for dove and I am picking up a camper to build my mobile kitchen, and there is the lawn, and stuff with the kids, and the honey do list.

I got through the 200 and cooked another 100. I ended up with about 60 pounds left over, but sold most of that at work in 5 pound bags. The rest is in the freezer. I can use that at the race.
