I actually have a nitrous kit too, never used it. If I get a wild hair someday, I might 'spray & pray'.

Re: Added a TVS 1900 Supercharger to my 5.3 Swap...

This reminds me of one time I was passed up by a hopped up camaro in my 87 astro van. Little did he know I had a 383 under the hood of it. Not only did I catch up to him right away but I continued to play with him for about 5 miles until he turned off the highway into Eagle River!!! It was friggin hilarious!!!

Re: Added a TVS 1900 Supercharger to my 5.3 Swap...

I finally hooked up a boost gauge on Saturday and much to my surprise I am making 10-11 psi when the kit is suppose to be 7 psi on a 5.3 litre.

So I borrowed a SnapOn scope from a buddy and took a look down a spark plug hole. Sure enough, flat top pistons and until at least 2007 no 5.3 had flat top pistons. So it looks like I have a 4.8 afterall.

Still making more than enough power so I am not too upset about it, don't have more than $200 in the long block anyway.

Re: Added a TVS 1900 Supercharger to my 5.3 Swap...

thanks
Henry

Thumbs up Now it's a 6.0 with a Turbo...

Long overdue for an update.....

Sold the blower in July of 2013 and swapped in 6.0 (LQ4) with a custom turbo cam. Pulled the heads for a 3 angle valve job and reassembled with a Brian Tooley double spring kit. Installed LS9 7 layer MLS head gaskets and ProComp head studs. Then built my own turbo setup using a Borg Warner S475 turbo. Using a stock truck intake and rails with FAST 87# injectors the truck puts 690 to the wheels at 14 psi through a 4L80e and a 9.5" 14 bolt (18-20% drivetrain loss).

Nice! No intercooler? Meth or E85? What turbo are you running?

An intercooler wasn't possible without seriously cutting up the front end. The car is running E85 and methanol injection with a progressive controller. The turbo is a T72 Chinese Garrett copy, normally I probably wouldn't run a Chinese turbo, but it was a trade and the whole setup is leftover parts from other projects anyway (except the 80# Siemens flow matched injectors). The turbo is probably only good for 12# before becoming grossly inefficient due to IAT going through the roof. Since I can only fit a 235/60/15 drag radial, I doubt I will be able to put more than 500 to the ground without series traction issues.
