Coil not getting power?

Hey guys, glad to join the forum!

I got an old 82 Silverado that drives (drove) great up until last month where she died at an intersection. She cranks all day but no spark so I replaced the module, cap and rotor, and coil. Still nothing but using a voltmeter I found out the positive side of the coil is not getting any power! With the key in the ignition I connected the positive terminal to the positive side of the coil and pressed the push-to-start and she fired right up! Replacing the switch did nothing, is there something I'm missing?

Thanks in advance guys!

Re: Coil not getting power?

Sounds like the wire feed broke or shorted. Trace back the (pink I believe) lead from the distributor back to the firewall. It is an unfused lead so if anything, you can run a connection from one of the IGN connections on the fuse box to the distributor.

Re: Coil not getting power?

If that wire is damaged it's really not a big deal to replace.
The correct length of 12ga Red SXL wire with Packard 56 terminals on both ends. Extract the old terminals that are associated with the damaged wire and insert the new terminals with the un-damaged wire crimped onto them.
IIRC it's Male to Female... It's a Packard 56 Female at the power terminal on the cap. I've forgotten the gender at the firewall bulkhead plug... I believe the "from inside the cab" plug is female and the "from the engine compartment" plugs are male... Take a gander it's obvious. Both gender Packard 56 terminals are cheap and fairly easy to work with.
