67 not so heavy chevy

Just bought a 67 c10 inline 6 292 with 3 on the tree. needs some love parts will be starting to roll in probably next month. I'll upload pictures when I get home at work currently.

Really new to restore or any motor work, that's why i'm here. I've got a small block 327 from a 67 chevelle. It's in pieces waiting to get block and heads cleaned, my questions for you gentlemen is the setup. I'd like to make this truck sound mean and produce a good amount of power.

Right now the block is bored over 30 looking at boring over 40. So it's a matter of finding the right setup hoping you guys could lead me in that direction. Want to run rocker roller setup for valves and I want a mild cam to give it the classic muscle sound. I'm just a young buck willing to learn I tore the motor down myself and willing to put it back together for my not so heavy chevy.

At .30 over gives you a 383 cubic small block. Don't know what .40 will give. Be careful not to go over .40, then you might be heading for trouble if the wall are too thin. But this in my thought. I think you are working in the right direction. Are you going to tear it down all the way to the frame or is it going to drive and work on the truck. I took mine all the way to the frame. I am glad I did for I found out week spots in the frame and other spots also. anyway good luck and it don't hurt to post pictures for these guys and myself need visual references to help you.

This is why I was worried to even go to .40 but it depends on how good the one cylinder wall cleans up. The cab is going to come off to replace the rear cab crossmember? I think that's what its called. So if we see any weak spots i'll try to get them fixed.

Other than that not really going to clean the frame up doesn't need it too much. Thinking i'll try and find some DART heads to run seen few good reviews on them.

Pictures when I wake up today I work 7pm to 7am so i'll post pics around 3-4ish

A 400 crank and .030 bore will give you a 383.
A .030 over 327 will give you like 333 or something With a 327 crank(not really sure)
A 327 block is the same as a 350 but has a 307 style crank from what I'm told.
So the pistons don't move as much up and down in the bore giving you less displacement.
A 400 crank makes the pistons move a lot more up and down giving you a lot more displacement and torque.
It's kinda like using a small ratchet on something and switching up to a breaker bar.
Most 350 blocks can go .060 over but as mentioned above you would be pushing your luck.
.040 would be ok but make sure you get the block sonic checked.
This will determine the thickness left in your cylinder walls.
I would use what I have on hand before switching up to Dart heads and such. You can spend a butt load of money quick not knowing what you should buy and end up with an expensive turd of an engine. 327's are tricky lil buggers so you need to know a bit about engines and intended uses of your truck. Are you gonna race it or use as a truck? You know = haul hay around a farm.
A 327 will spin high rpms but not much torque for hauling in stock form.

I'd like to try and make it a street/strip truck if possible. The guy i bought it off of gave me the cab mounts and rocker panels for it.

For poops and giggles bought some headers for the 292. Plan to run 292 for a year or two as i'm not in a hurry to build the 327. I love the truck its beautiful and an antique now

New plans, making a flat bed for my chevy and I'll run it for a couple of years. Going to be doing rocker panels and cab corners here in the next two weeks or so, kick is I will not be welding them.

I will be using a glue, specifically Lord Fusor 116.

Got a little bit of work done today. Took the hood off, got the inner fender wall out on the passenger side. Took longer than i wanted, had to grind the hood off and grind bolts in the wheel well out someone caked a rust spot with putty which went over my bolts.

Now i have to get a passenger side door and need two new fenders for the front. Noticed some rust on passenger side door that is bubbling bad poked hole through it.
