I used Raptor bedliner by U-POL on the under side of the cab and fenders. It works awesome and looks great with the texture. It is easy to shoot and very easy to get consistent texture. It also cleans up nice.

I did a short video on the product showing how to apply it and what it looks like finished, click here to see it CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO

That was a good video demonstration Curt. I may use that for the inner fenders too.
Thanks for the share.

OK, here is an update on my A/C compressor mounting issue.

I have only found one narrow bay high mount bracket that supports a 508 and that was from LS Brackets but it requires a water pump change and belt tensioner change and it was $214.95. They have a small compressor mount and that is $179.99.

I did talk to KWIK and they have a bracket that fits the smaller Sanden 7176 compressor but that is like $259.00 vs. the $125 for ICT Billet. They also think their streetrod set up for a 508 may work but it also will require a water pump modification to the top hose and is in the same price range.

A quick call into ICT Billet and I found option number two. They said the 551352-3 might be a better choice, it is a high mount, $25.00 more expensive ($124.95 vs. $99.99) and it will require a mini style Sanden 7176 compressor and the Camaro tensioner.

I have come to terms that I will need to buy a Sanden 7176 compressor and I am going back with the new ICT Billet since they were very willing to help me out on the return of my old bracket which was totally my error.

The new bracket was ordered today and I will do another video on that install.

These are the measurements of the current bracket that does not work:

These are the measurements of the new bracket.

Brake Line Creation and Installation

I made a little more progress this weekend, I ran all of the brake lines and it is just about ready to bleed. I am just short a correct Tee and the brake switch. It is always just one more thing

I ended up buying a brake line kit from JEGS but I always hated doing double flares (until now). I wanted to buy one of those high end brake tube flaring tools but could not get over the costs so I finall bit the bullet and got a mid level kit from Eastwood and their flaring tool ROCKS! It is not cheap at $189.99 but it made my life so much easier.

I created two video's one if the long video of the who process and the 2nd video is a review and operation video of the Eastwood Double Flaring Tool.

Please keep in mind when I review various products I have no connection with them, I am just trying to give an honest review of products I have researched and purchased in hopes of helping others out

I hope you find some of my videos useful as you work on your projects.

Next will be completing the hard and soft fuel lines as all of my connectors should be in this week.

Complete Process with shots of finished installation

Re: 1950 Five Window Build

Curt, I've seen references to the Eastwood flaring tool, though your video review of it is the first I've watched. It looks simple to use and very fast. It wasn't available yet when I threw out the terrible flaring tool we've all used for years and splurged on the Hydraulic Master Cool flaring tool. It was a huge improvement to making flares of many types.

The Eastwood flaring tool looks easier to use though the Mastercool can be used on a line still on the car.

Anyway, thanks for sharing the videos. If someone hasn't made videos, it is hard to do!

Oh, I noticed you are in Brentwood, TN...home of Dave Ramsey company.

Thanks for sharing the Hydraulic Master Cool flaring tool, I had not seen that one before and I do like the fact it can be used while on the car..

Yes, we are right down the road from Dave Ramsey HQ and his big house on the hill

Re: 1950 Five Window Build

OK, here is another update on my A/C compressor mounting issue. The new set up works perfect and is fairly reasonable price wise.

After my first mistake I ended up buying the ICT Billet 551352-3 high mount narrow bay kit. it was $124.95 and it required a mini style Sanden 7176 compressor and the Camaro tensioner.

I did another video on the install and inner fender well comparisons between the old and new bracket. It fits way better and the look of the mini compressor looks a lot better.

Now I can get back to more assembly

Re: 1950 Five Window Build

Curt, thanks for the video install on the new bracket. These provide the clearance I am looking for. How do they look on the engine?
Does ICT Billet call out the Camaro tensioner pn in their sales data?

It looks great on the engine, I will post some still pictures soon. They do not call out the part number, just that it needs to be a 98-02 Camaro Belt Tensioner.

Re: 1950 Five Window Build

Great video Curt. Thanks for taking the time to put it together. It looks like this set up is the way to go. I was just fitting my inner fenders this afternoon. I also have a LS1 engine from a 01 Camaro so I should be good with the correct tensioner.

Thanks
Marc

Whos bracket did you use for the other side of the motor for the alternator? It looks like maybe its OE.

Re: 1950 Five Window Build

I finally got a belt for the accessories so I figured I would post some pictures completed.

I just ordered a swivel water pump inlet, will post some pictures when I get that installed.

Nice pics Curt. It helps. I need to see how different my f-body brackets are from your truck brackets. They look similar but I'm guessing they are different.

Does this still use the truck balancer?

Yes, just make sure you use the 551352-3, that is the one for a truck balancer. The only thing you will need to change is the truck belt Tensioner to a 98-02 Camaro Belt Tensioner (Gates # 38195).

Their site calls for two different size belt depending on the alternator. I had a stock alternator so I thought it would be the smaller belt, WRONG, it was the lager 1080K6 belt.

I think I have some F-Body brackets laying around and they are quite different. The alternator sits a lot higher on the truck bracket. I tried installing an LS6 intake on my 5.3 block using truck accessories and it would not fit correctly so I went back to the truck intake.

Of course I lost one of my the bolts that holds my truck intake down and can not find just one bolt any place

Re: 1950 Five Window Build

It has been a few weeks since I posted an update so here are a few progress pictures. I will have a video walk around up shortly.

I finally got the shifter cable installed and the steering all hooked up so I was able to set the fender wells and fenders on the truck.

My champion radiator and fan arrived yesterday so I can start putting that in soon.

Also my new LS wiring harness arrived so I need to figure out where to mount the computer and routing of the wires to make it look clean.

For this week I need to decide on the A/C components so I can get them on order.

Did you have to get an extended harness? I just got mine and it is standard length but I have not unboxed it yet?
