New project. 72 4x4 LWB 3/4 ton.

Hey everyone. Started working on my new project. I'll be posting pics and questions in the forum. Also going to be looking for a replacement tailgate. Man those are hard to find.

Original paint right there. 78k miles on the original motor. 4 speed. No ac just a push button am radio and heavy duty rear shocks. Bed is in real good shape. Some rust in floor near rockers. Can corners are also getting replace.

That's a nice clean truck - off to a great start right from the beginning. I'll look forward to more pics as your build progresses. That old paint should buff out real nicely. Here's a before/after pic of the paint on my 1/2t 72 GMC I found in Conrad, MT - sold new in Valier: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/aboard/s...56&postcount=4

Re: New project. 72 4x4 LWB 3/4 ton.

Should I put it back to original as possible or add some items like deluxe glass trim pieces or a white top? I know I want a chrome rear bumper. It's tough because I'm using the original drivetrain and someone may want it to be the way it rolled off the floor.

Building to sell.

Re: New project. 72 4x4 LWB 3/4 ton.

What do you want for it as is

If the buyer was myself I'd rather have it as close to original as possible but easily reversible changes saving the original parts shouldn't hurt value. It's only original once. Can you post a pic of the decal inside the glove box door and some interior pics? IMO OEM white front bumper with a white or factory step rear bumper would look great. Add a factory brush guard (one for sale on parts board now), factory front hubs, and replace the antenna with a stock piece and call it done.

Re: New project. 72 4x4 LWB 3/4 ton.

I've already pulled the interior and all the glass. I'll post a pic of inside glove back later. I'm out of town right now. The sticker is easy to read.
Options were chrome front bumper, am push button radio, 350, 4 speed, heavy duty rear springs, med bronze paint, parchment interior and that's about it.

I am thinking as close to original as well. I have to fix that rust in floor and cab corners and the dents.

I'm going to finish it before it's for sale. Sorry.
