Oh Jim you sweet Angel. Our first January number ...and ridiculously close. It still doesn't rule out a February build for me though. Would you mind checking your transfer case build date? That probably would be a great comparison for relative assembly date....Thanks, thanks, thanks.

...thread heating up. We're getting super close.

Re: Build Date Question

JimH2828, Do you have the original engine block assembly code or the protect-o-plate?

Re: Build Date Question

Prior to me buying it the engine was rebuilt and the head was machined so the engine block info is gone. Also, the prior owner did not have any paperwork or the protect-o-plate.

Re: Build Date Question

I mean really roughly calculations still, but...taking our Dec #139K and our early March #155K...if it was just Mon-Fri...that's 20 build days in Jan and 20 in Feb. If they did do 400 a day, that's 8K a month...that works out pretty well...but it looks like they were probably hitting at 7K per month. Even if that's the case, 7K per month would get me into January even if 139K was the last truck built in '69. It is interesting though to look at transfer case dates. There's only 2k difference in our serial #, but a month difference in our transfer case.

Re: Build Date Question

DAC's transfer case and Jims were built on the same day.

Re: Build Date Question

This just reinforces what I was saying about vendor dated parts vs actual assembly date. They were built up and shipped to GM like a carton of eggs and installed as needed.
