3rd brake light working but no others

2007 1/2 ton Chevy pickup. The third brake light works and neither of the corner brake lights will work. My guess is the brake light switch is working or I would not have a 3rd brake light. All turn signals, 4 way flashers and tail lights are working. Any and all help appreciated...Roger

Re: 3rd brake light working but no others

It's been my experience that the fuse in the power control center under the hood has a blown fuse. I had the same symptoms with my 97 GMC.

I visually checked the fuses and they looked good, I may be wrong but would expect the fuse for the third brake light to be the same as for the corners. Thanks, Roger

Actually they are not on the same fuse. There is a fuse in the cab and a fuse in the power control center under the hood. The 2nd one I think is a 30 amp and powers the corner brake lamps. Do check to see if there is power going to the rear lights and inspect the bulbs. It is doubtful that both sides are blown at the same time though.
Make sure the trailer wiring harness at the bumper isn't damaged, maybe a pinched wire or damaged socket.

Re: 3rd brake light working but no others

Visually checked both fuses today but will test them tomorrow as well as checking for power to the fuses. I will report my findings. Thanks, Roger

Both bulbs good just not making contact, what a POS system, glad I drive a 1970 with those horrible old 1157 bulbs that are bright as ever after 200,000 miles.
