What is this and do I need it

Can someone tell me what the vertical tube looking thing is and do I need it? has a few gas lines going to it from tank, guessing its some sort of emissions deal. I am replacing floor brace its attached to and would like to get rid of it

Vent tube. If keeping factory, you need it.

It's a fuel - vapor separator. Not enough dome (dead space) in the tank so it makes sure nothing but vapor makes it to the charcoal canister.
