barn door latches

Hello all,

I finally ripped all of my replacement rubber back off the barn doors. I found a replacement rubber in bulk that will work with the barn doors.

My question is,, the driver side door, the lower latch, Mine has play in it after it is fully latches to the second click. I am not sure if this is right and the door rubber should take up this slack when slamming the door.

The replacement rubber from steel rubber was so stiff i had to slam the door to get it to latch. The top of the driver door has no catch so it was making it uneven top to bottom.

I am determined to start from scratch and and make the barn doors work like new. There was a survivor 90 burb for sale at the track last weekend. The barn doors shut smooth as silk.

does anyone have barn doors and does the lower latch have this much play?

Re: barn door latches

isn't the lower piece it latches to adjustable? might also need to pull the latch and weld up were its worn a groove. had to do that to my 71 door latch. had a groove worn and would pass the lever instead of opening.
