need a shipping idea

ok so I need to send a c10 hood from new mexico to the east coast.
I'm figuring freight would be cheapest but building a crate will add about 40 pounds and shipping a hood is expensive enough already. does anyone have any success shipping hoods that can give me ideas?

Re: need a shipping idea

Sizes, via volume heave standard weights, your hood will not exceed the standard weight for the size, so package away, the extra weight will make no difference in the cost.

Re: need a shipping idea

Check with local body shops/dealership's for a used shipping box and some of the hard foam protection blocks. New components are shipped in double or triple wall cardboard to save on cost. Or maybe someone on the board has a box from a repop hood you could get.
Good luck.

Re: need a shipping idea

realizing a hood is a bit larger, but I've shipped a pair of 1st Gen Camaro fenders via Greyhound shipping from TX to NY and it wasn't crazy.
You just need to drop off at a Greyhound terminal near you, and ship to one near destination...

Re: need a shipping idea

Just a thought.
Iship.com? People taking that route bid to ship something for ya.
One used it once. Sold stove and buyer used it to ship 450lb 1930's vintage stove from Ohio to Louisiana. Went well
