60-61 Interior Paint

Has anyone found a good match for the 60-61 Chevy/GMC Charcoal paint used on the dash ? The old lacquer paint codes don't cross over well to modern paint.

Re: 60-61 Interior Paint

First I want back with fawn color because I could't find anything in that gray that matched. But I should have tried to get something close to that gray. I have only seen one other truck that has it. Now I have white dash and exterior color on everything else.

Here is the only pick I have with the gray.

This is what I have now. I wanted something different but still kept the vintage vibe.

Re: 60-61 Interior Paint

Thanks. 60-61's were all silver and charcoal interiors, trying to stay as original as possible. The silver is easy, the charcoal not so much. The fawn interiors that came along in 62 are a lot easier to match.

Re: 60-61 Interior Paint

I drove my suburban for 100,000 miles, and there were times the fawn dash reflected badly off the windshield.
My K10 is a '62, but I'm gonna go with the silver interior and black dash from '60/61.

I used rattle can hammer paint, dark gray. kinda like gun metal gray. It's not real glossy.

Thanks Rocknrod! The satin white looks good but a pain to keep. I'm always cleaning it.

Re: 60-61 Interior Paint

Thanks. With your custom interior a stock dash wouldn't look right. Yours blends in just right.

Thanks! I had it stock fawn for a while but I decided to change it. My friend kept beating me with his 56 F100 so I had to change it a little.

Re: 60-61 Interior Paint

Hello,
I'm about to repaint the interior on my 1960 Fleetside and would like som feedback on this:
I'm thinking about going for thease two colors:
Interior: Silver metallic (RAL 9006)
Dashboard: Graphite grey (RAL 9024)
I haven't decides about the glossiness yet, but I'm thinking about gloss 20 (it's rather flat)
I found an untoched spot of silver metallic behind the ID-plate on the left kickpanel. It looks pretty flat to me.
Please comment on this if you have any experience.
Another question:
The front of the glovebox and the gaugehousing and the area underneath is painted silver. Is this the same silver color as on the rest of the cab interior?
Thank you in advance

Re: 60-61 Interior Paint

I used the ppg wa7134 for the silver but it’s abit glossy and the charcoal I used a nason line I’ll have to check the numbers I can’t remember if he scanned my glove box door or used a old code

Re: 60-61 Interior Paint

Thank you jrusher
Would be nice if you can find the number for the charcoal.
Some have grey steering wheel and column and others have silver.
I don't know if both where original alternatives, but i'm gonna paint my steering wheel and column silver met.

This is the old "original" paintnumbers for the interior 60-61 (maby others years aswell?)
If anybody has sucessfully translated thease to modern numbers (recepies) i would be more than happy if you could share them.
How about glossiness?

Interior - silver gray
DUCO MM313
DuPont 94162
Diamont WA7134

Dash top - charcoal gray
DUCO 73605
DuPont DS 174

Re: 60-61 Interior Paint

No problem . I’ll get that nason code for the charcoal tomorrow I’m just on nites. I think it’s a close match . My steering column was charcoal/grey as well . The silver like I said earlier color wise i think is close but had too much shine I should of dulled it down. It’s a patina truck on the outside so good enough .

Charcoal steering wheel and column is 1960 only. 1961 is when they switched to silver on the column and wheel.

Re: 60-61 Interior Paint

Thank you all for commenting
I will put up som pictures on my interior when it's painted.
I'm still curious about the glossiness.. was the original interior paint closer to semi-matt, then semi-gloss?

Re: 60-61 Interior Paint

Did the removable door panels come same color as interior or was it an alternate color to match exterior or something?
